Association Management
Advocacy Organisations
Ernie has spent over 30 years of his career as an industry advocate, managing a wide range of industry associations ranging from one man bands to a dozen staff.
He knows the trade intimately. The "glamour" end of the role - advocacy with government and industry partners supported by strong media management. The mundane tasks of finance and membership promotion, supporting elected committees, running conferences and events, keeping members informed with inside gossip. Trouble shooting. All these functions interact. He's done them all - time and again in different settings.
Its all about the bundle of services you offer, and keeping members engaged.
In 12 years working for the NZ Manufacturers' Federation he was directly involved with a dozen individual industry groups, then later managed a team of 25 professionals who collectively serviced more than 40 industry groups.
More recently, under his leadership TUANZ became one of New Zealand's highest profile advocacy groups - punching far above its weight and transforming the telecommunications and Internet landscape over a 12 year period.
Currently he works with a variety of groups including the recently-formed Wireless Internet Service Providers Association - wispa.nz
Want someone to be your part time or temporary executive director? Want someone to cast a pragmatic eye over your industry group and come up with recommendations to reach its full potential? Ernie's your man.
